Green Walks , a hugely successful community project previously run in Exeter, Devon in conjunction with Transition Exeter and the University is coming to Truro!
The project aims to build community resilience through reconnecting people and places by bringing together people from a range of backgrounds, young and old to enjoy a natter and a stroll. By taking talking walking, unexplored green areas are discovered and people, places and projects of interest visited. Occasionally guest 'experts' will lead more informative walks giving people a chance to learn about everything from biodiversity, to what wild foods are to be found in the meadows and fields around the city. The project will also link up with others around Truro, giving people a chance to get involved for instance in a tree planting project for a couple of hours or learn how to make a recycled bag for an afternoon.
The Truro branch of the project – run in partnership with Transition Truro will be launched in the New Year with the first walk on January 15th – come along to meet new people, gather new ideas and discover new places! The walks will take place monthly on the third Sunday starting at 2pm in front of Truro Cathedral (High Cross side), finishing back again at 4pm. Strolls are really leisurely, laid back and open to all – dogs and determined cats included!
