FLIP, IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!
A “Batter-y” of ******s aim to unite once again on Lemon Quay, Truro as The Rotary Club of Truro host its annual fundraising Great Truro Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday 8th March 2011 at 12noon until 1.30pm. The heat will be on as businesses and private individuals sponsor their ******s, in fancy dress, to take aim, flip and catch as they race for the winning line competing for various trophies along the way.
No baking skills are required and aprons, frying pans and “one we made earlier” pancakes will be supplied! There is still time to enter teams and loads of fun is guaranteed. If you don’t have any ******s in your organisation or among friends, you are most welcome to join in the camardarie. The Rotary are looking for teams of four at £25 per team and there will be trophies for Best Fancy Dress, Most Original Team Name, Fastest Overall Team, Fastest Women’s Team and Grand Final Winners. Teams are also encouraged to raise extra funds by arranging sponsorship which can be Gift Aided. Ideally entries need to be in by 1st March.
The Rotary Club of Truro are grateful that Rowes Honda, Financial Planning Concepts, FolletStock and Ward Williams Associates have offered major financial support to this year’s event. All races can be sponsored for £25 and any donations would be most welcome. All funds raised will benefit Marie Curie Cancer Care.and other Rotary supported charities. Last years event raised an amazing £3,000 thanks to everyone who took part and those who sponsored the event. Over the last eight years around £21000 has been raised in support of such charities as the Rotary "Thanks for Life -End Polio" campaign, Marie Curie Cancer Care, The Chestnut Appeal, Shelter Box, Aqua Box and The Merlin Project. The Club's aim is to raise even more for charity this year and looks forward to seeing you there!
