A firm of independent financial advisers from Cornwall has been recognised for its work with young people.

Worldwide Financial Planning, which has offices in Truro and Wadebridge, has received the Expert Badge of Honour from Working Knowledge.

The national organisation aims to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.

Worldwide's director, Neil Chamberlain, who collected the award on behalf of the company, said: "It's really nice to receive the award from Working Knowledge.

"But what's more important to us is working with young people to help them learn about the importance of money and finance.

"As a company we have been working hard for a number of years to help boost financial literacy through a number of different organisations and schools across the region."

As well as supporting Working Knowledge's initiatives Worldwide works closely with Cornwall Learning Education Business Partnership (CLEBP), where IFA, Chris Rowe, is a board member.

Neil added: "2012 has been a busy year for us at Worldwide, especially due the changes in legislation and the introduction of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) that comes into effect on January 1.

"Now our advisors have successfully achieved the accreditation and certification required with RDR we will have more time to support educational initiatives in the new year, which is something we're looking forward to."
