The future of another Truro store looks uncertain this morning following the announcement that HMV is calling in the administrators. The high street music and DVD chain is said to have been struggling for some time against online rivals.
Deloitte are expected to keep all of the 239 HMV stores nationwide open while potential buyers are sought.
In a statement last night, the HMV group said: "the Board regrets to announce that it has been unable to reach a position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection, and in the circumstances therefore intends to file notice to appoint administrators to the Company and certain of its subsidiaries with immediate effect."
It added: "The Directors of the Company understand that it is the intention of the administrators, once appointed, to continue to trade whilst they seek a purchaser for the business."
The news follows the closure of photographic store Jessops, which closed its doors in Truro last week, and electrical retailer Comet which suffered a similar fate.
