Truro sailors to join the Olympic Development Squad

Truro School Sixth Former Chris Thomas and his sailing partner Jack Hawkins have been selected to train alongside the Olympic Development Squad (ODS) in preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This makes them the youngest partnership to have ever achieved this.

Sailors preparing for next Olympics
The news follows a run of successes for Chris and Jack who recently finished third in the European Cup 49er Series and first in the Irish National Championships.
Speaking of their selection to train with the ODS, 18 year old Chris said:
"To part of this squad is just a just amazing. The coaches will work with us to prepare for the next Olympic Cycle and we can learn more from others in the squad to help progress each other's ability.
He added: M"y ambition is to be a professional sailor."
