"It's dead simple – and an easy way to improve your life." That's the message from Lara Hill, the project officer for Clean Cornwall as she approaches one of the busiest weeks of the year.

Clean Cornwall Week runs from March 16-24 and the organisation is looking for people to arrange litter picks in their neighbourhoods.

Clean Cornwall will provide groups with everything they need, and will also arrange to pick up the litter afterwards.

Clean Cornwall Week is held twice a year. Thousands of people across Cornwall get involved with litter picking and clean-up activities in their local area. Beaches, towns, countryside and roads are all being targeted with the aim of making Cornwall one of the cleanest places in the country.

Lady Mary Holborow, chair of Clean Cornwall, said: "I know that all of us want to be proud of where we live and work – this is such a good way to make this a reality."

Lara Hill added: "It is great that we have so many community-spirited people who are prepared to help tidy up after others, but we're always hoping to recruit more like-minded people. All you need to do is register and do the litter-pick, we will help as much as we can and it really is very simple to get involved.

"It's nice to get out in the fresh air, meet new people, and tidy up the environment where you live or work."

Clean Cornwall has co-ordinated more than 800 community 'clean up' events across Cornwall.
