It's carnival time in Truro this weekend. Saturday 8th September is carnival day and, according to the organisers, the streets will be alive with the sights and sounds of a street festival celebrating everything that makes Truro a great place to live and visit.

Thousands of spectators are once again expected to line the carnival route. The route itself has been altered slightly this year though, a decision made by the carnival committee to try and keep as much of the city centre open as possible on the day.
Judging of the floats, walking groups and vintage vehicles will start on Hendra Field at 4.30pm. The carnival procession will then set off from Hendra at 6pm. On Lemon Quay, where the procession ends, there will be food and drink stalls as well as music and entertainment which will continue until 10pm.
Floats and motorised vehicles will return to Hendra via Lemon Street, Charles Street, City Road and Ferris Town.
