TRUROBollard bump
By West Briton | Thursday, September 20, 2012, 07:15
ONE of the rising bollards on Truro's Lemon Quay escaped serious damaged after a lorry got stuck on it.
Cornwall Council said the accident, involved a vehicle owned by RCS Couriers vehicle, caused oil to spill on to the pavement.
"The bollard has been checked and is working correctly with no substantial damage caused," said a council spokesman. The firm had agreed to make good any damage.

The Truro piazza is a designer's nightmare. Buses have to drive across it and bollards stop other vehicles from passing through it. I would close it off entirely to any traffic at all. The area does get used for the Cornwall food market effectively but it needs to have even more attractions. I am not surprised to hear about the accident with the rising bollard, it was just waiting to happen. These are merely more obstacles in the way rather like the chicane 'right of way' triangles which cause traffic congestion.
