Truro didn't seem to really do a lot for St George's

Truro results from St George's Day Poll
Day. Sadly, banks were open, shops were
trading and every single one of us had to go to work. But, what if things were different? What if the day of our dragon slaying patron
saint warranted a national bank holiday?
Although the day itself went by with little more than a
Twitter trend to commemorate, we put the poll to you last week, across 300+
sites on the local people network, and Truro has had its say – "if St George's Day were a bank holiday, how
would you celebrate?"
Of little surprise, Truro people would mostly opt to
celebrate St George's Day in the same way as our Irish brethren make merriment
for Patrick – 'going to the pub' was first with 29% of the vote.
What was surprising, was that the pub had to share top
honours with something else, in this case, 'inspired to cook an English
breakfast'.
With another tie for second place, the joint silver
accolades went to altogether more wholesome and healthy options, 'spend time
with family and friends' and 'weekend break to explore the UK' – each receiving
14% of the vote.
Pleasingly, in a dim and distant 5th (last) place
was 'DIY and gardening', with just 14%.
Have your say.
Do you agree with the
St George's Day poll? Are you at all
surprised...would you have wanted to do some gardening? Blue sky thinking aside, what did you actually
do for the day of our patron saint?
