Truro's shops are being encouraging to join in the St Piran's Day celebrations this year by creating special window displays to mark the occasion. Truro will be marking Cornwall's patron saint with its annual St Piran's Day parade on Tuesday 5 March.

Shops were first asked to create Cornish themed window displays last year. It's hoped even more will get involved this time. Organisers say the displays could involve anything from simply adding a St Piran's flag or some bunting to doing a whole window with a black and white theme.
As an added incentive, Truro based accountants Robinson Reed Layton have sponsored a prize cup to be awarded to the shop with the best Pirantide display.
Stephen Gainey, a partner with the firm, said: "Robinson Reed Layton is
delighted to support the Best Window Display. Based in Truro
ourselves, we feel it is important to reward those local businesses who
are doing their bit to make it such a beautiful city."
Shops wishing to enter the competition for the best window display should
have their display complete by the end of business on Friday 1st March.
