An independent school in Truro has appointed a new Nursery Leader, in order to support the school's core staff team and maintain their high standards of teaching.
Thomas, Leo, Sarah, Matthew and Rosie
Polwhele House has appointed Sarah Reed from Helston, to work as part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team, leading the nursery class.
Sarah will provide a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities for the children as well as run the school's weekly toddler group - building a relationship with the children and their families before they join the nursery.
Sarah is thrilled with her new role at Polwhele House saying:
"I really enjoy working with children, especially in Early Years. This role will mean I can help children experience many opportunities during their educational development, whilst being a part of the fun that they have through play and learning. It is particularly rewarding when an idea makes "sense" in a child's mind - something I am sure I will experience frequently at Polwhele House. I am looking forward to taking on fresh challenges every day!"
Sarah is eager to further her role and her future with Polwhele House:
"I believe that nursery is an important place for children to gain a firm grounding in all areas of development and I am keen to be part of that process. With the amazing facilities and grounds that we have at Polwhele, I am excited about developing a "Woodland School" within the foundation department, which is an excellent way to stimulate learning across all abilities."
Alex McCullough, Headmaster of Polwhele House, commented:
"We are passionate about education, believing that the right education sets children off on the path of self-discovery; it prepares them to take their place in the world. It also creates a life-long love of learning. Polwhele House is a happy, family school. It's a place where childhood is cherished; learning is fun; and community is paramount.
Sarah is an excellent addition to our staff team as she believes I our ethos and opportunities that it creates for each child.
"Sarah is not only an outstanding EYFS practitioner, but she is also a parent of two children at Polwhele House; her new appointment will assist the school in upholding their high standard of excellence in teaching as well as building the school's close relationship between parents and staff.
Sarah has had experience of working with adults as well as leading a Sunday school, but has found her passion lies with teaching children – something demonstrated when she took a diploma at Cornwall College and was nominated for student of the year.
Before joining Polwhele House, Sarah was a Teaching Assistant at Lanner School in Redruth, working in Key Stage 2, Key Stage 1, reception and nursery classes, as well as running an after school club.
