Music Truro takes to the streets

Last week saw the fifth Music Truro event and it definitely had more of a community feel to it than previous years.

David White launched the event on BBC Radio Cornwall on the Monday with live performances by Kezia and Saturday Sun.

This was followed with a series of live performances and events throughout the city ranging from samba to folk via jazz and classical.

Neil Scott, BID manager for Totally Truro, the Business Improvement District that organises Music Truro said, "This years festival was a massive success and thanks must go to the team and performers that helped make it happen.

"Highlights for me have to be the Cornwall Music Forum panel on Friday night and the musicians in residence sessions that happened throughout the city."

Friday night also saw the now legendary John Peel night featuring a host of new and up and coming bands performing at Bunters in Truro.  

Cornish songstress Kezia, who performed a couple of times during the week said "It's an honour to be involved in Music Truro and it's great that grass roots festivals like this still happen.

"It's a curious paradox, that at a time when the process of recording and distributing music is easier than it's ever been, the opportunity to get out and perform is diminishing as small venues are closing."

So what of the future of Music Truro festival?  Neil Scott simply says "Watch this space."
