Cornish cider drinkers can now raise money whilst they raise a glass.

Award Winning Polgoon Vineyard in Penzance has decided to create a brand new red berry cider, called Heli-Berry, to raise money for their chosen charity The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.

Winemaker and company director, John Coulson said "The idea came from a meeting with Susie from The Cornwall Air Ambulance.

"We are pledging to donate five pence from every bottle sold to the charity."

The vineyard ran a competition to name the drink and the final winner was drawn by Holly Day from Pirate FM.

The new name, 'Heli-Berry' was suggested by Mrs J Charlton from Gorran, who won a case of 12 of the new 'Heli-Berry' ciders.

John Coulson said, "The idea for the drink, obviously came from the famous red helicopter that performs such vital work, but we were especially excited to try and marry the right blend of berries to not only give a rich colour, but most importantly to a produce really nice drink."

Susie Smith, Fundraising Manager for the Cornwall Air Ambulance said. "We are extremely grateful to everyone at Polgoon for their support and are very pleased with the result.

"The cider itself is bursting with fruit flavours and I think will be enjoyed equally over the winter months as the summer.

"This is a really different way for people to support us with fundraising.  It's great to see people thinking creatively."The new cider is on sale now and available from the Polgoon Vineyard shop near Penzance.
