A call for generous-hearted Cornish people to help send a group of
youngsters who have learning disabilities on a special Easter break in France is being
made by their support charity Brandon Trust.
The holiday is being supported by the Big Give, who have agreed to double
the money raised by Brandon Trust so the charity now needs to raise an
initial £1,400 in pledges by October 14
to qualify for the match funding.
"To help us achieve this we are urging generous indviduals and local
companies to pledge donations of £100 or more," said Steve Richardson, the
charity's Locality Manager for Children's Services.
"The trip to a camp in Provence
would be the first opportunity for most of the youngsters to enjoy a break and
make new friends away from their families,"he said.
The holiday for up to 10 youngsters, aged between 10 and 17, would also
help them foster confidence and a sense of independence while providing a much
needed break for their parents or carers, said Steve.
Pledges can be made by contacting the Brandon Trust directly on 0117 907
7200 (quoting "the Big Give appeal") or through the Big Give website; http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/projects/view/17150
