As Christmas cheer is spreading across the county, this week it reached Children's Hospice South West's (CHSW) Little Harbour when the Freemasons arrived with a cheque for the charity for £5,000.
The Freemasons' of Cornwall are dedicated to helping people in need, and over the years have donated over £50,000 to helping the building and continued running of Little Harbour children's hospice in St Austell.
CHSW feel particularly grateful to receive this money as it was just a month ago that the Freemasons donated an emergency grant of £50,000 to the British Red Cross in support of immediate emergency aid efforts in the Philippines.
This latest £5,000 donation from the Freemasons Grand Charity to be split between CHSW's three hospices comes in addition to the local donations received directly from the Freemasons of Cornwall who are dedicated supporters of CHSW and Little Harbour.
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master Peter Roberts stated that "Charity is the best way of putting our Freemasonry principles of Neighbourly Concern into practice. All of the money given to charity by Freemasons is raised directly from our members and local lodges throughout Cornwall, and we are very proud to help CHSW who are doing such wonderful work for life limited children".
Mary Murfin, Community Fundraiser at Little Harbour says "We are always so grateful for the kind and generous donations we receive from the Freemasons. Donations like these go straight towards continuing the vital care and support given to children and families who use Little Harbour."
Little Harbour is a children's hospice dedicated to supporting and caring for children with life limiting conditions and their families. Children and their families can visit Little Harbour for planned respite stays as well as emergency care, end of life care and bereavement support. The team is there to support all of the family including well brothers and sisters, mums, dads and grandparents.
