Cake making company The Baking Bird has this week opened the doors of a new cakery, shop and café in Truro's Old Bridge Street. The business was founded in 2011 by The Baking Bird's owner and chief baker Selena Govier, who started by taking mail orders for cupcakes and celebration cakes produced at home in her kitchen.

No 2 Old Bridge Street in Truro, nestled next to the Cathedral, is now the new home of The Baking Bird.
Since then, word about the Bird has spread and demand for Selena's cakes grew to a point where she needed a separate business premises with larger ovens.
Instead of relocating to an industrial unit to continue the mail order side of the business, Selena opted for a base in the heart of Truro.
Selena says: "We've set up shop in this lovely old building, which is large enough to house a spacious café upstairs where customers can treat themselves to a cake and a cuppa in comfortable surroundings.
She adds: "Our shop is on the ground floor with a large kitchen area where we plan to hold cake decorating workshops as well as a Saturday kids baking club."
